Beethoven and Glass Quartets
Chatter Artistic Director and violinist David Felberg will be teaming up with local performing artists Carla Kountoupes, violin, Shanti Randall, viola, and Dana Winograd, cello, in what will no doubt be a knock-out performance. These four artists wowed chatter audiences back in November when they joined forces in a performance of works by Beethoven and David Lang. Now the quartet is reuniting to perform Beethoven's String Quartet Op. 95 "Quartetto Serioso" along with Philip Glass' Quartet No. 5.
This week, the spoken word portion of the program will be presented by Carlos Contreras, a national champion performance poet and local educator, who leads writing workshops in the adult jail facility at the Gordon Bernell Charter School. He also plays host to the National Hispanic Cultural Center’s Voces program, a writing institute for youth. Having been a member of eight spoken word poetry teams at the college and professional level, Contreras has used spoken word as a tool for growth, advancement, and survival. He works daily to show young people that their voice is as important as those they see on TV, and often even more so.
Doors open at 9:30; for best seats, come early and enjoy the coffee and camaraderie!
Chatter Sunday Admission prices are $15 regular, $9 for those under 30, and $5 for children under 12, available at the door. The Frequent Attender Pass gives patrons 11 admissions for the price of 10 and can be purchased at the Chatter website, chatterabq.org.
