Santa Fe Desert Chorale—Songs for a New World
The world renowned Santa Fe Desert Chorale will make their annual appearance at Chatter Sunday this week. They will be presenting excerpts from one of their four 2014 Summer Festival programs, Songs for a New World.Combining music from the Americas and Caribbean, the program ranges from traditional spirituals to interpretations of Spanish language classics and new works.
Considered one of the nations premiere vocal ensembles, the Chorale is made up of 24 vocalists from around the nation, who have been convening in New Mexico for 31 years to rehearse and perform a wide-range of vocal repertoire spanning many centuries. This ensemble of virtuoso vocalists, lead by music director Joshua Habermann, never fails to wow audiences through exquisite vocal blend, musical sensitivity, and unique programming
This week’s poet is Jules Nyquist Jules Nyquist earned her MFA in Writing & Literature from Bennington College in Vermont, January 2007. Nyquist experiments with sound and form and continues to write poetry on the page and for performance.
Doors open at 9:30; for best seats, come early and enjoy the coffee and camaraderie!
Chatter Sunday Admission prices are $15 regular, $9 for those under 30, and $5 for children under 12, available at the door. The Frequent Attender Pass gives patrons 11 admissions for the price of 10 and can be purchased at the Chatter website, chatterabq.org.
