Serenata of Santa Fe
This week Serenata of Santa Fe is coming down to Albuquerque to play selections for the Chatter ABQ audience from its first concert of their 28th season of presenting chamber music. Artistic director and Oboist, Pamela Epple, has a knack for assembling exciting and diverse programs that bring together music from different eras and genres organically to create a unique concert experience.
Selections for this program will include “Summa” by Arvo Part for string quartet, “Klezmer a la Bechet” by David Krakauer for viola & hand drum, “How Slow The Wind” by Golijov for string quartet, soprano, and clarinet, “Jubb Jannin” by Yousef Sheronick for viola & hand drum, “Mariel” by Golijov for cello and marimba, and “Lua Descolorida” for string quartet and soprano.
The poet this week will be Erika Wurth, whose novel, “Crazyhorse’s Girlfriend,” has just been published by Curbside Splendor. A writer of both fiction and poetry, she teaches creative writing at Western Illinois University and has been a guest writer at the Institute of American Indian Arts. She’s Apache/Chickasaw/ Cherokee and was raised outside of Denver.
