Event Description

A politically minded, socially and spiritually conscious singer-songwriter, Eliza Gilkyson has become one of the most respected musicians in roots, folk and Americana circles. The daughter of legendary songwriter, Terry Gilkyson, whose songs were recorded by artists as diverse as Johnny Cash and Dean Martin, she was Inducted into the Austin Music Hall of Fame in 2003, and has been an ongoing winner of the Austin Chronicle’s various coveted music awards, as well as the Folk Alliance’s Best Artist, Best Songwriter and Record of the Year awards. She has toured with Richard Thompson, Patty Griffin and Mary Chapin Carpenter and her songs have been recorded and performed by Rosanne Cash, Tom Rush, and Joan Baez. She has worked with Swiss composer/ harpist Andreas Vollenweider, and has appeared on NPR, Austin City Limits, Mountain Stage, and e-Town. She has earned numerous Grammy nominations and her most recent release, Roses at the End of Time, once again pushes the boundaries of Folk Music. "Eliza cleverly disguises her sly social commentaries within catchy acoustic ballads, edgy folk rockers and fresh electronic atmospheres that paint a vivid image of life’s struggles and triumphs." (Red House Records).
