How has the South Valley historically been connected to agriculture and what is the history of the acequia system? What is Urban Agriculture and why have we seen a resurgence in the recent past? Visit two active growing sites that are producing food for New Mexico families that use two different watering and growing techniques. We will take a one mile walk along the acequia and learn the history and significance on this water system for the South Valley. Participants will have the opportunity to complete a hands-on project, view wildlife and ask questions about gardening in the arid southwest.
