An introduction to basic concepts of asana practice (breathing, surya namaskar, finishing, rest) plus key etiquette (how to be a good student and get the most from your practice).
Who it is for: Anyone interested in starting a Mysore practice. All are welcome. Yoga mats are available for purchase or bring your own.
Ashtanga yoga is both the eight-limbed path to inner peace outlined in the Yoga Sutras as well as the six series of postures taught in the tradition of Shri K. Pattabhi Jois.
The Albuquerque Ashtanga Yoga Shala program is centered around the Mysore-style practice. Students are taught one posture at a time, practicing the same sequence of asanas consistently, adding the next in the sequence when the teacher feels the student is ready. Students of all levels are welcome.
The Shala is dedicated exclusively to the practice of traditional Ashtanga yoga and is located in historic Nob Hill, Albuquerque.
