Please join us to celebrate the premiere of Guggenheim Fellow Michael Berman's new book, Gila: Radical Visions, The Enduring Silence. His black and white photographs of the Gila Wilderness offer a wordless exploration into this complex and subtle landscape. Complementing his stunning photographs are essays by Charles Bowden, Philip Connors, Martha S. Cooper, Dave Foreman, Alex Muñoz, Sharman Apt Russell, M. H. Salmon, Patrick Toomay and others, all inspired by the Gila Wilderness. A selection of Berman's photographs from the book will be displayed in the gallery for two weeks as part of this event.
This fundraising event begins in the fall of 2012 with the year-end fund drive for 516 ARTS. When people make a year-end contribution of $100 to 516 ARTS, they receive special gifts from Michael Berman: his new book and an original print (8.5" x 11"). Then join us on Saturday, February 2 at 7pm for a talk and booksigning with Michael, where larger prints will be on display for two weeks (through February 16) and will be available to contributors at higher levels. This event benefits both 516 ARTS and the New Mexico Wilderness Alliance.
