This is an introductory Korean course, designed to help students become familiar with the Korean language, writing system, word order and culture. Basic vocabulary and expressions used in interactions that one might encounter when traveling to Korea will be taught. Students will learn the essentials of the Korean language and useful cultural contexts which is essential to appreciating and understanding the language. Each session is interactive, and conducted in a fun and lively atmosphere. Small group activities, discussions, and video/audio will help students learn the language quickly. Audio recordings of Korean pronunciations will be made available for review after class. Required Text: Korean for Beginners: Mastering Conversational Korean, Henry Amen & Kyubyong Park, Tuttle Publishing, 2010. Text available at the UNM Bookstore.
