Event Description

This event will start with a sunset hike at the new urban wildlife refuge, Valle de Oro. Following that, there will be a short youth presentation and an outdoor screening of shorts made by youth, plus a featured film, at the Gutierrez-Hubbell House. Don’t forget to bring a picnic blanket and dinner for this outdoor event.
This event is part of the Wilderness Act 50th Anniversary Series that is being organized by Bernalillo County Open Space and federal partners. The series will provide the public with an in-depth look at the establishment of the Wilderness Act in 1964, wilderness areas of New Mexico, challenges of managing wilderness areas in today’s urban society and the future of our wilderness areas.
Federal Partners include the U.S. Forest Service, National Parks Service, Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
