Get to know your fellow residents of the University Heights neighborhood on Tuesday, April 1 at 7 p.m. at the Albuquerque Center for Peace and Justice, 202 Harvard SE. Refreshments will be served.
This is the first of several neighborhood social events reframing “change” not as an obstacle to creating community, but rather as the a way to connect with each other and share stories of an experience that changed you. Stories of change are those that make us human, the stories that connect us: attending university, moving into an apartment for the first time, getting married, losing a loved one, travelling, dealing with an illness, having a baby…. Responses will be videotaped—or for the camera shy, audio recorded, or even hand-written and edited into a documentary video collage about our always-changing neighborhood.
These social mixers are a way to get to know each other and discover what we have in common. Coordinated by the University Heights Association (http://uhanm.org), this year-long story-making project is made possible by the Bernalillo County Neighborhood Outreach Grant Program.
