Animal Humane New Mexico and the City of Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department (AWD) have made it their mission to find forever homes for all the pets in their care this summer. Help make this mission "PAW-ssible" by adopting a cat or dog on the weekend of August 2-3 and receive 50% off the adoption price!
Mission: PAW-ssible will be hosted at the Animal Humane Main Campus location at 615 Virginia St. SE----look for the Big Blue adoptions building. Animal Humane will be open extended hours from 9 am - 8 pm Saturday, August 2 and Sunday, August 3, and will have dozens of pets from both its shelter and the City of Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department (you can tell which pets have arrived from the City by their bright orange bandanas!). Mission: PAW-ssible is the perfect opportunity to add a furry friend to your family!
In addition to pet adoptions, we'll be providing activities for all pet lovers! Ask top-notch trainers for pet behavior advice and tips, watch live training and agility demonstrations at the Main Campus Dog Park, and take the opportunity to teach your own pet a few new tricks. Grab some grub at the food trucks and enjoy your meal at a picnic table while listening to live music. Don't forget to spin the prize wheel before you leave!
This event is one of several adoption and pet owner resource events hosted by Animal Humane and the City of Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department in a collaboration supported by grant funding from the ASPCA. Already, pet health education and resource fairs, aimed at supporting owners in neighborhoods that may experience barriers in providing health services to their pets have resulted in 359 pets receiving vaccinations, 118 microchips and 167 spay/neuter surgeries for healthier, happier and longer-living pets. The overall goals of the program are to reduce our city's high shelter intake numbers, increase pet adoptions to ensure more pets find loving homes and improve the lives of pets and their people throughout Albuquerque.
