Moscow-born Ilya Kaler -- the only violinist to ever win Gold Medals at the international Tchaikovsky, Sibelius and Paganini competitions -- performs the Sibelius Violin Concerto. Fellow Russian Victor Yampolsky returns as guest conductor for this spectacular program which also features Shostakovich's Symphony No. 5. Yampolsky has conducted over 80 professional and student orchestras throughout the world, including repeat engagements in the United States, Canada, Spain, Portugal, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, South Korea, Taiwan, the Czech Republic, and Chile. Pre-concert lecture by Mr. Yampolsky at 5:00 p.m.
