Event Description

Occupy Wall Street is a people powered movement for democracy that began in America on September 17 with an encampment in the financial district of New York City. Inspired by the Egyptian Tahrir Square uprising and the Spanish acampadas, They vow to end the monied corruption of our democracy … and cities all over America are doing the same! New York is now in DAY 12.

Mainstream Media is refusing to cover this revolution. This is a powerful movement for social transformation. Albuquerque is being called to join the rest of this country in solidarity . 65 cities across the US, plus The United Kingdom and Australia. This is spreading like wildfire. This Saturday Burque will stand up and we will join NYC and all other cities participating.

We are all leaders in this movement. We are working together.

I can't make it, however we are also having a fundraiser for Occupy Wall St later that evening, at Albuquerque Center for Peace and Justice, 6:30 to 8:30pm. A community poetry open mic. No one will be turned away from the door, but we do ask for a donation at the door or to read at the mic. The movement needs supplies, food, etc. One poem, 3 minutes. No featured poets, just people coming together to express solidarity with our brothers and sisters in NYC and across the country. See you there.
