Film Description: Generation Red Nation "Best Documentary Feature" at Red Nation Film Festival in Beverly Hills, CA
Reckless government policies nearly destroyed American Indian tribes and could now do the same to the United States as a whole. “Our People are dying while other people are getting rich,” Squeak Bourland.
How the Native Americans survive unemployment rates of 89%, substance abuse rates at around 70%, extreme poverty, with a corrupt government system can be a guide to national and personal change. Unlike other documentaries, the music is a main character, with lyrics interwoven between interviews. The hauntingly beautiful soundtrack by Grammy Award Winner Jim Wilson features Grammy Award winning Native American singers, Rita Coolidge and Verdell Primeaux; Grammy Nominee, Joanne Shenandoah; Juno Award Winner, Sadie Buck; and Robbie Robertson, who won a Grammy Lifetime Achievement award with The Band.
