Event Description

Learn to create exciting, contemporary figurative paintings in oils, based on the light principals of the impressionists. The basis of strong painting is designing beautiful shapes in their color correct values. You will paint from the clothed model, moving from 5 to 45 minute poses, building the entire composition in relation to the figure. Michelle will help you improve your use of the medium of oil paint & teach you how to mix all values and colors. You will learn the importance of ‘Notan’-the Japanese principal of dark/light pattern & light/shadow pattern. There will be demos throughout class & plenty of individual instruction.
