Bookworks and Albuquerque Academy are pleased welcome Sue Monk Kidd to Albuquerque Academy’s Simms Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, Feb. 14 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 (and include a $5 coupon toward the purchase of Kidd’s new book, The Invention of Wings.)
Writing at the height of her narrative and imaginative gifts, Sue Monk Kidd presents a masterpiece of hope, daring, the quest for freedom, and the desire to have a voice in the world. In her latest novel, Kidd chronicles the lives of two women, one a slave and the other born into a life of privilege, on a remarkable 35-year journey, as they strive for liberation and achievement in the early 19th Century South.
Sue Monk Kidd is the author of two widely acclaimed nonfiction books, The Dance of the Dissident Daughter and When the Heart Waits. She broke into blockbuster bestselling territory with her first novel, the book-club favorite The Secret Life of Bees, which spent more than two and a half years on the New York Times bestseller list and was adapted into an award-winning movie. The recipient of numerous literary awards, she lives in southwest Florida with her husband, Sandy, and their black lab, Lily.
