Baroque Extravaganza Early Start 10AM
This week features Bach's ecstatic Violin Concerto in E major, and Albinoni's Oboe Concerto in D Minor. In addition to these Baroque masterworks, the concert features a gem of the film-music repertoire, "Gabriel's Oboe" from the legendary Ennio Morricone's score for “The Mission.” Hometown heroes David Felberg (violin) and Melissa Peña (oboe) appear as the soloists.
Poet Elizabeth Jacobson will present the spoken word portion of the program this week.
Jacobson is a poet and a teacher of writing. Her first book of poems, Her Knees Pulled In, published by Tres Chicas Books is a finalist for the New Mexico-Arizona Book Awards. Elizabeth has taught writing in New York City at CUNY, and in New Mexico at SFCC, Warehouse 21, and most recently as a teaching artist with ArtWorks. She is the recipient of the Jim Sagel prize for poetry. Her education includes an MFA in Creative Writing from Columbia University and a BA in English from Rollins College.
