One of Schubert's most outstanding contributions to the chamber music repertoire, the String Quintet in C Major will warm the heart of all that attend Chatter's final 2012 performance. Scored for string quartet plus an extra cello, which creates special sonic depth, the work is sublime in all regards. The second movement seems to make time stand still in the most eloquent of fashions—perhaps a good opportunity to reflect on one more year passed.
This week’s spoken word portion of the program will be by Katrina Guarascio. Guarascio resides in New Mexico where she teaches high school English and writes as often as time allows. As an active member of the poetry community, she produces a monthly poetry performance in Rio Rancho, The Smokin’ Slam, hosts bi-weekly workshops, Speak Easy Tangents Poetry Workshops, manages the website for a local women’s writing collective, La Palabra, and brings poetry to her students by sponsoring the Cleveland High School Poetry Community, coaching a youth Slam Team, and producing a yearly literary magazine of student poetry. Along with numerous literary magazine and ezine publications, she is the author of two out of print chapbooks and two book length collections “A Scattering of Imperfections,” and “They don’t make memories like that anymore... “ She is also the author of the blogsite Swimming with Elephants: http://swimmingwithelephants.abqnorthwest.com/.
