Conor Hanick
Rising star Conor Hanick returns as pianist/curator with a program of solo piano works. Hanick's performance of John Cage's seminal “Sonatas and Interludes” in New York this January (a program he presented at Chatter in Albuquerque first) received glowing praise from the New York Times. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/01/04/arts/music/conor-hanick-performing-john-cage-at-the-stone.html?_r=0.
He has continued to garner praise for his intriguing radio program “Hammered!” which presents an hour daily (!) of 20th and 21st century works for solo piano and can be heard on WQXR's online station Q-2. (http://www.wqxr.org/#!/programs/hammered/).
Hanick's program for Chatter will include works of Johann Sebastian Bach and Elliot Carter. Always an expert curator, Conor's approach to programing is always best enjoyed when accompanied by his even greater mastery as a performer.
This week’s poet is Maggie Evans, whose poems have appeared or are forthcoming (also as Meagan Evans) in “Sentence,” “cream city,” “ Colorado Review,” “Bellingham Review,” “Black Warrior Review,” “DIAGRAM,” “InDigest,” “THRUSH,” and others. She recently completed a PhD in American poetics at the University of Oregon, and she now lives in the hills outside Albuquerque.
Doors open at 9:30; for best seats, come early and enjoy the coffee and camaraderie!
Sunday Chatter Admission prices are $15 regular, $9 for those under 30, and $5 for children under 12, available at the door. The Frequent Attender Pass gives patrons 11 admissions for the price of 10 and can be purchased at the Chatter website, www.sundaychatter.org.
