In the age of GPS, old-fashioned paper maps have an increasingly visible presence in contemporary art. No longer confined to solely practical applications, mapping has become its own art form. It has gained popularity among artists not only for its aesthetic appeal, but also its versatility as a way of understanding physical and conceptual spaces. In this workshop, participants will be led through exercises that approach mapping as a creative process. Using mixed media and alternative printmaking techniques, we will create maps that explore personal experience, imagined worlds, and the real and invisible terrains in our daily lives.
