Event Description

The flag book, also known as a “blizzard book” is a quirky and amazing structure which is easily learned by a beginner in the book arts. Creating one is deceptively simple, but looks intriguingly complex. It consists of a an accordion spine to which a series of tabs or “flags”  are attached to alternating sides, which allows for the tabs to fan out in opposite directions when opened. Students will learn how to create the basic accordion spine and cover. We will then individualize our flags and learn how to attach them. We will use a variety of media including inks, watercolor, stamps and collage material. Students will need to bring a straight edge or ruler and may also bring photographs, or specialty collage materials if they wish.

Time: 1pm – 5pm
Location: 6th Street Studio
Materials Fee: $10 (payable to instructor)
