Todo es de Color combines the mystique of early flamenco song with music inspired by a psychedelic, rock-infused energy.
Since April 2013, revered flamenco artists Alejandro Granados and José Maya have worked closely with Yjastros, using the company as a canvas to join the ethereal nature of dance with messages about the gravity and joy of the human condition.
The title piece, choreographed by Granados, is inspired by the poetry of Spain's Lole y Manuel which relates to social conflict and worldwide violence during the 1970s.
Maya offers a visually stunning choreography, rife with tension and thrilling rhythms which celebrate the raw, gritty and fervent history of flamenco culture and performance.
Granados' and Maya's work debuts alongside choreographies by artistic director Joaquin Encinias, who chosen repertory bring even more color and energy to this vibrant evening of flamenco.
Join Yjastros for Todo es de Color this November as they present the radical and colorful ideas of these flamenco choreographers.
