Unraveling Tradition/Restoration, 2 new exhibitions opening concurrently at 516 ARTS on July 17 from 6-8pm.
Unraveling Tradition, features artists from across the United States who convey contemporary ideas and concerns using traditional handwork techniques. These artists use various fiber media to create non-traditional objects and assemblages.
Restoration features the conceptual art of 10 artists from across the country who have worked as restorers of ancient and antique textile art. Some are immersed in the traditions they have preserved while others create new art that is a loose reflection of their work in restoration.
Both exhibitions run through Sept 11, 2010, Tues–Sat,
12pm-5pm. Admission is free.
