The election's on Tuesday. What if Obama doesn't win? What is there's some kind of foul play? People are gonna be pissed. Judging from Saturday's Obama rally at Johnson Field, about 45,000 people in Burque are gonna be pissed. All kinds of people, too. Black, white, brown. Young, old, unborn. What if all those 45,000 people got together again on election night - be it for celebration or protest?

In Third World countries there's a tendency to riot when the will of the people is not manifested; be it during elections, coups or new policies. Since our country is heading down the road towards being a Third World country (been down East Central lately?) it's time we start acting our role.

But burning tires and rock-tossing battles with cops are so 20th century, Wobbly class-war. We need some new ways to burn off that steam.

Any suggestions?

When you find it, let me know. I am going to be flipped out & pissed if we get stuck with McCain & Barbie. How could we possibly allow her to represent us?
We will need to work through it... together. Rainbows and puppies.
My husband and I have discussed leaving the country. I have heard many other people talking about the same thing. However, I'm thinking positive, happy thoughts and I just KNOW Obama WILL WIN!!!
Fear, fear, everywhere. Fearmongers motivating voters to cast their ballots against the other candidate... rather than for something positive. How are we going to get along in such an atmosphere? Angrily or gracefully?

My fear is that no matter which side wins, the loser's supporters will have been whipped up into such a hateful frenzy during this election process that they'll not know how to act and may embarrass themselves... or worse.

I'd like to be more optimistic. It's almost like the trepidation of Y2K. Either way, it's going to be difficult job for the winner to unify all citizens to work together. Not an easy job, particularly if people question ballot counts.
You know what? This discussion really belongs over in La Politica or Talk Hard in the Groups section. I'm closing comments (so that your messages won't be lost) and suggest that you move this over there. Thanks!
