Gasp!

These two nice ladies have been having a long, intimate discussion next to me for the past hour, with no apparent concern that I can easily hear all sorts of details about their lives, what antidepressants they take, feuds with their friends and family, etc. I'm busy working but I'd have to wear earplugs to not hear their whole conversation. Then one lady leans close towards her friend and says in a low voice with deep intensity: "Two of my **very** best friends are..." and she pauses to take a deep breath. OK, now I'm interested. Are her friends lepers? Swingers? CIA agents? No, she continued, barely above a whisper, "...republicans." Ha!

Of course I assumed everyone had heard of her, but I realized on Halloween that wasn't true. We were trick or treating on Forrester St. which is totally Obama central, and I had this huge McCain/Palin sign on my back and a big M/P "pin" (both just printouts from their website). Plenty of folks got it, but I got vibed by a lot of others who obviously had never heard of this crazy self-mutilating girl, and I could totally feel them hating on me thinking I was a real McCain supporter--a really strange experience!; ▶ Reply to This
