My Swamp Cooler is done for the season and in rough shape. I wouldn't mind getting a new one now and installing it in the spring if there are any close out sales going on with this year's models. Does anybody know where I can get one now for a cheaper price than I would in the Spring?
Permalink Reply by hettie on October 17, 2012 at 11:27pm Not sure if this is the sort of thing that goes on sale seasonally, but you might check out Baillo's, at San Mateo and Menaul. I sort of assume places just stick the unsold coolers in the back until spring, but who knows? (Baillo's is a locally owned place, too, if that's a consideration.) There's also Salmon's, with a couple locations around town.

But I'm not sure. Baillo's actually is no longer a true local shop. They used to be. But a national company bought them a couple years back, and decided to keep their local name so people would still think it's local. Just FYI. We used to do business with them where I work. Thanks for the reply.

Johnny Baillio retired in 1993, Jack in 2008, after selling the business to Appliance World out of Denver.
A little more than a year later, Jack Baillio reacquired the company and returned to the business. It is still a family-run company, with Jack’s brother Jeff Baillio, son Jack and two sons-in-law involved in management.

Permalink Reply by hettie on October 18, 2012 at 2:19pm Yeah, the family buying it back sort of super-cemented my commitment to buying from them whenever possible. What dedicated members of the community!
Check with Samon's - I had picked up a Champion Mastercool from them two years ago about this time for roughly 20% off. (Of course, that did not include transporting the new or old coolers to their new homes, or setup.... - they are VERY heavy! - Mastercool, not the other types)
