What's going on, Albuquerque?

Carne Asada Burrito

Felt the need to give a shout out to Carolina's --newish Mexican restaurant on Monte Vista (next to Bailey's on the Beach). This is Mexican Food like I used to get in San Diego (and I've been missing).

Food is inexpensive, service is friendly, ambience --not so much. But great place to stop and grab food to go.

I've only had the Rolled Tacos w/ guacamole, a Quesadilla, and the Carne Asada burrito-- which I've gone back for a couple of times.

Looks good, I want to give them a try. But, in all seriousness, you also have to get the Carne Asada Burrito from Cesar's. He came from the Albertos on 30th and University in Dago....16 years ago. That item was my culinary savior in this town!

BTW, have you ever heard of Guacamaya? You can get it at el Mezquite on San Peedro south of Central - the best hot sauce to put on Mexican food

cesar's is on the southeast corner of san mateo & lomas.

don't expect much - speaking as a bay area boy who also lived in LA for 10 years, i was really disappointed. the carna asada burrito had flavors and textures that were just odd and frankly, kinda revolting.

King Taco sucks. So many better places. One of my favorites is Lupe's which was a block down the road from the King Taco on 3rd Street.

Edit: Ok KT doesn't suck. It's just ok. Like I said there are a lot of other places that are much better.

I grew up in Montebello. Lived right near Schurr HS. Where was that Sergio's? Was it the one next to the liquor store on Whittier? Best darn bean and cheese burrito was J&S Burritos on Garfield.

Oh, I remember that one. I loved it.

Just the other day I had a craving for Ordonez. Then the next day I wanted a pastrami sandwich from The Hat or Golden Ox.

Only thing I miss about SoCal is the food.

Ok another place. Barrigan's in Echo Park. Mmmm, the Ropa Vieja was amazing. Though, last time I was there it wasn't what I remembered. Could have been an off night.
