Duke City Fix

Life, food, events, and community in Albuquerque, NM

A few years ago, I inherited my great-aunt's car.

It's a 1979 Mercury Zephyr with 66,000 miles on it. I'm the second owner.

I really want to donate the car, but it isn't running nor has it ran in a year or so.

Does anybody know of any charities that will accept this donation and will do the towing and everything?

I have the title and keys.

Thanks for your help!

you could donate it to kunm. they don't mind if it's not running and they'll come pick it up from you. they'll also send you the appropriate forms to claim the donation on your taxes. (this assumes that kunm is an organization you're interested in supporting.) the info is on on their website here.

KANW will take auto donations as well. Call Vehicles for Charity at 1-877-308-2408 or go to the website at www.kanw.com.

I'm not 100% sure, but some places refuse to accept older cars. if it get less than 18 mpg you can get like a $4K credit towards another newer more efficient car right? ;D

we donated a car as well to Cars for Charity.... we chose to donate the money to local Animal Humane and to Breast Cancer Awareness. They picked the car up, and gave us a receipt for tax purposes.
