Duke City Fix

Life, food, events, and community in Albuquerque, NM

I am putting together a business newsletter for employees, and the main focus for Spring/Summer is doing things by yourself or with family and/or friends (not being a couch potato). But with the economy the way it is many people are looking for fun things to do that are affordable for the lower income set. Things that won't cost a ton in entrance fees, or fuel to get there. Some ideas we've had are the Bio Park, Public swimming pools, picnics and get-togethers at the local parks, and trail hiking (though we've no idea what trails to suggest), anyone have any good ideas, and info? Input greatly appreciated!

I hope you'll check out Beth Hanes great new blog Albuquerque on the Cheap. She's always got fun stuff to do that's free or low cost.

Some ideas: First Fridays and Artscrawls (different art and galleries every month, free, unless of course you buy some art!); summer concerts at the Botanic Gardens; Explora (for the whole family, plus they have adult nights now and again), Albuquerque Museum of Art and History (maybe followed by a picnic in Tiguex park across the street, or a stroll into Old Town), Unser Racing Museum, Natural History and Science Museum, National Museum of Nuclear Science and History; walks at the Nature Conservancy.
