Hi, we read about this new pizza place, and went to it -- it is on the north side of Central, between Pennsylvania and Wyoming....the owner is Pete from brooklyn...unbelievable pizza -- either thin or thick crust...just try it.

But be patient please -- when we were there, they were inundated with calls/visitors and had run out of their dough, and had to make more....they are getting or already have a new oven...

Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

Finally, duke city gets decent pizza

I'm the person who started the email discussion!
I went by twice over the weekend and I too saw that they were closed.
Hopefully it is a short hiatus.
Maybe they closed because their location was , as OBTS put it... "colorful"...
I thought that could be the explanation, but would have expected a notice -- 'WE ARE MOVING TO...",
Wow. Well, all I can say is that Peter THE CHEF could probably sue for the comments in this letter. It's that's not defamation of character, I don't know what is.
This is a fascinating ending to a weird story. When I first started hearing a little buzz about this place a few months ago, my wife and I decided to go check it out since it's not far from our house and we likes the pizza.

We drove to the location, and we did find a pizza shop of sorts, with a sign that said something other than "Pete's of Brooklyn," in a shabby little strip mall. But it was closed, and frankly, appeared to be a defunct business, rather than an operating restaurant.

Thinking we must have gone to the wrong address, I called the number from the Alibi, and got a loud, rude "hello?" I asked "Is this Pete's of Brooklyn?" And the guy said, gruffly, "Well that depends who's asking." I paused, and said, "well, I guess a potential customer." He then introduced himself as Pete and said "Then yeah, you've got the right number. We're not open Mondays." I asked him if we'd seen the right location, which appeared to have an old sign advertising a different business in the window. He said yes, they were going to change the sign.

I thought it was one of the weirdest interactions I'd ever had with a business owner, and we went to Giovanni's instead. I never tried to go to Pete's again.

I admire anyone for trying to start a business, but these folks weren't ready for prime time.
