The big question is, what do you enjoy doing? www.meetup.com has a bunch of event groups in Albuquerque, and it kind of goes towards your interests. Also, there are a bunch of free or cheap dance places for people who like Swing, Salsa, and I am sure just about every type of style your looking for. Hopefully that gets you off to a good start, and I am sure that there will be a couple of other good ideas posted here soon as well.

Take a class at UNM or CNM in a subject that you are really interested in. Volunteer for a cause that you are passionate about. Join one of the numerous outdoor activities groups in town. Attend one of the many book discussion groups in the city. Take a drawing, painting, photography, music, dance or yoga class at The Harwood Art Center.

Like Tyler said, pursue your interest and you are bound to meet like minded people.

Lots of fun stuff always happening around ABQ, art fairs, flea markets, free concerts.  Great way to meet people.  What kind of things do you like to do?
