Impropriety Abounds with Darren White's Rescue of Wife

Darren White continues to overstep this reach and abuse his power as Chief Safety Officer over the rescue of his wife following a single car accident last week  This latest incident continues to put Mayor Berry at political risk and due to his lack of visibility during this fiasco, almost complicit in a cover up of White's actions.  All the mayor did was ask for an investigation.  Why did he wait so long?  Surely he had to know about this almost as soon as it happened.  Chief Shultz attempted to justify White's actions and take the responding police officers off the hook for not performing a field sobriety test when they had cause.  Why was the police report only filed yesterday and not the day of or day after the accident?  Isn't this a violation of police policy?  All this speaks of gross impropriety from three of our top public officials.

Yeah, that's little G.  Thanks.
I honestly don't have any real opinion of him but I think I have to consider any police official showing up at the scene of an investigation involving his family to be questionable.  To then remove his wife, aka "the suspect" from the scene leaving possible questions about sobriety unanswered makes it worse.  While the average schmoe might very well be called upon to transport a relative in such a manner it raises the question of impropriety when an officer does so.  The idea should be to always avoid even the appearance of impropriety anytime when a public official is involved.  Yes, it could be entirely above board and documented but regardless it smacks of  an official butting into an active investigation to keep a relative out of hot water.  Even worse it raises questions about the integrity of the officers at the scene (maybe they looked the other way and allowed something hinky just to placate the boss...) and that is definitely something White should be conscious of and avoid.
Lahjik, I couldn't agree with you more.
If it had been an ordinary citizen passing out and crashing their car they would have been arrested on suspicion of DUI.

"According to police reports, Kathleen White lost control of her black Porsche..."

Maybe we should take away her keys to the Porsche, since maybe next time she has a "seizure", she'll hit a car/bus/truck/bicyclist on the other side of the road.... (at much higher speed, of course..)

(In my book, if you use the "had a seizure" excuse for really bad driving, you should never, ever be allowed behind the wheel of an auto again....)

I don't know what the law is here or even if there is a law (usually the case).  In California, a doctor who sees a patient for an unexplained seizure or blackout is required to notify the DMV and that person's drivers license is immediately suspended.  The license is reinstated only after a suitable period of observation, tests, treatment, and a sign-off by the doctor.
I thought they already confirmed that it was a seizure, at least that's what I thought I heard on KASA 2 last night. Mr. White is a lightning rod of sorts, but I admire him for going to his wife's rescue. Perhaps those chastising him would be more apt to throwing their spouses under the bus.
And there you have it -- he's gone.

...but not forgotten.

As much as he may wish he were...

(Hey, c'mon.  It's a Darren White thread on DCF.  This link is obligatory.)

Ha! Never saw that before. He must have lost his sense of humor somewhere along the way.
Maybe he'll put the band back together.
