I snapped this image on the night of Monday, March 4 with my iPhone. It shows an illuminated roadwork sign for southbound drivers on Carlisle Blvd., just south of Montgomery. Just beyond where the sign appears, traffic merges from two lanes into one because of a recently-started construction project. But, rather than alert drivers to that, it appears that someone associated with the project thought it better to proselytize for Jesus. I've emailed the image to Mayor Berry and to D'val Westphal at the Journal. Are you as offended as I am by this abuse of public property, or should this raging secularist just chill?

I love how you try to tie Bible messages to hate speech. Nice. Hate speech is not tolerable in any circumstance whether it be race, ethnicity, sexual orientation and... Religion.

The story made KRQE TV news tonight, referencing the posting on Duke City Fix. Last month Duke City Fix broke the story of Savvy Boutique cutting down a public tree in Nob Hill. Today it's the Secularist heightening awareness of unsafe and inappropriate traffic message boards. DCF - in touch with What's Going On in Albuquerque.

Did they mention anything regarding an apology to our public workers for accusing them of promoting religion with public property?

Who can remember how many were maimed or killed before we had these signs?

It was carnage, I tells ya, CARNAGE.  Without those giant signs taking up a whole lane and distracting motorists from the actual road hazard ahead, people were driving over plastic cones left and right.

Me?  I like the random weirdness of road sign hacking.  It's a bit of unexpected fun in a buttoned-down world.

My dad told me those flaming blobs were smudge pots but I bet they were really what was left of the poor suckers who found themselves driving through road construction.

Well, it was a bit of a money-saving strategy:  don't provide giant blinking signs and motorists would careen off the road, turning themselves into road-illuminating smudge pots.  Brilliant, if you think about it.
