The Keltic Cowboys, Arizona's premiere Irish-flavored rock band, will give a special Celtic rock flare to the Fourth Annual New Mexico Brew Fest at NM Expo Fairgrounds in Albuquerque, Saturday October 5, 2013.
Sponsored by Local iQ magazine, this five-hour Oktoberfest-themed event includes a roster of local food-trucks and tasting booths set up by breweries from all around New Mexico, Colorado and other Western states, including New Belgium, Deschutes, Stone, Oskar Blues, Left Hand Brewing, Odell and more, with tastings all afternoon, all set in a very family-friendly, picnic-like atmosphere..
The musical entrertainment will be continuous, and, in the case of the Celtic headliners, decidedly raucous and conducive to brew-sampling.
The Keltic Cowboys, led by songwriters/singers Patrick Flanagan and Frank Mackey, have Irish roots and hail from Arizona and are most famous for the humorously truculent song, “Kiss My Irish Ass” and other carousing hits like “The Black Hole of Calcutta”.
Frank Mackey of the Keltic Cowboys wrote their most famous song, “Kiss My Irish Ass” in the late 1990s and the band continues to play it at thier shows to this day. The song has also been covered by national acts including Great Big Sea and Flogging Molly and others, and is sometimes mistakenly thought of as a traditional, anonymously-authored, Irish drinking song. The song's provocative lyrics do draw from Irish sources, including novelist James Joyce's use of KMRIA (Kiss My Royal Irish Arse) in “Ulysses” and the original band name of The Pogues, Póg mo thóin-which translates as “Kiss my ass” and therefore caused the band to be banned by the BBC until they abbreviated their name.
Tickets prices range from $20 to $50,with special rates for Designated Drivers and children. More details are available at
