We are thinking of walking Old Town on Christmas Eve this year, which I haven't done in at least a decade.
We don't want to do the bus driving tour...
Has anyone done this recently and has advice on where to find parking? I was thinking the museum parking lots or at Hotel Albuquerque, but I assume both lots will fill up pretty quickly?
We also were thinking of going a little bit early, like 4:30 or so and having dinner (maybe at the hotel or somewhere that's open on Christmas Eve) in hopes of finding parking...
Anyone have any experience or advice they'd like to share?
Bring bikes (with lights! - you'll need them) and park in the neighborhood east of the Museum. The best luminaries are located in the Country Club area, across Central south of Old Town. It's far, far easier to bike the CC than it is to walk it, by far... And the neighborhood just SE of the Art Museum has nice lights to cruise through.
(You'd think that some enterprising bike shop would rent bikes for that night, and/or maybe lead bike tours. You'd also think the city would have the Botanical Gardens open that night...)
There's bound to be restaurants open in Old Town that night - we're going to try Golden Crown (I think they're open.) Bring a thermos of something warm to drink - it does get chilly after a while.
