New Vegan Restaurant - "Mint Tulip" - Coming to Albuquerque?

I just got word that a new vegan restaurant called "Mint Tulip" will be opening in the UNM area.  It will be at the old 20 Carrots location, on Central between Yale and Buena Vista next to Fei's Cafe.  The owner said they will be opening in the next couple of weeks, and will even offer vegan soft-serve ice cream.

There's not much of a web presence yet, but they do have a Tumblr and a Twitter account.

Love the profile pick Benny!
Will they have any "raw" menu items ala our friend Don Schrader?
Have they opened yet?
According to the twitter account linked above, they opened Saturday.

This is great news! I'm not vegan, but I seem to really enjoy vegan restaurants every time I go to one.  I have to say, I am not sorry to see 20 Carrots go. We tried to go there recently, but my small group and I lost our appetites after witnessing some health code violation stuff going on.

Mint Tulip looks great! Thanks for sharing the info.

My family and I had lunch there on Saturday.  In the spirit of full disclosure, one of the owners is the daughter of a life-long friend, but I will try to be objective.  I hope you won't consider this as a posting from a shill.  I am too much of a dedicated carnivore to even consider being swayed into a vegan lifestyle, but I do appreciate the effort it takes to create a tasty dish.

I had a grilled cheese with green chile sandwich - tasty, but the chile was a little on the hot side for my wimpy tastebuds.  Kids had chile cheese hotdogs - minus the chile - which they enjoyed.  My wife had the house veggie burger: a patty made up of beets, carrots, and onions - I think.  It too was good, especially topped with avocado and green chile.  We had freshly made (squeezed, juiced, whatever) carrot juice, and the kids had Naked Juice from the deli case.  They finished with a "Nanner Split" made with soy-based yogurt.  I do NOT do soy, so I can't vouch for the flavor, but my ominvore kids inhaled it.  The tab for for of us, including beverages and dessert, was about forty bucks.

I had been to 20 Carrots years ago, and vaguely remember it as being kinda dark and in need of a good cleaning.  The new place has been cleaned up and is minty (green).  I'm planning on going back.

Great review, BRH, thanks!

I'm no vegan - I love my egg and dairy – but I am a huge fan of homemade veggie burgers.  I'll have to give them a shot.

By the way, do you think you could suggest to your contact at the restaurant that she post some basic info to the website?  Phone number, hours of operation, address, menu/specials would be nice.

I'll pass along the message, Benny.
