Old World Imports (north side of Central near Buffalo) recently closed their retail store, I believe. Not sure what's happening with the space. The old Paper's location (Silver just West of Carlisle) is empty. Several buildings on Silver circa Washington are being renovated for new rentals, as well as recently renovated storefronts just east of O'Niells on Washington. That's what I've noticed bicycling through the neighborhood.

old world has been least by a very exciting new local retailer. could be a game changer for abq.

Slight correction -- the Silver Ave (Bicycle Boulevard) buildings being renovated (in addition to the Washington & Silver location mentioned) are closer to Morningside & Silver. Not currently prime drive-by real estate, but it'd be nice if Silver section between Morningside & Washington started to feel more like Silver between Carlisle Richmond. The Highland Theatre renovation might help that area (http://www.krqe.com/dpp/news/business/grant-boosts-future-of-hiland...), and O'Niells certainly helps extend Nob Hill eastwards. Speaking of, I think the west side of the O'Niells building might be looking for someone to occupy too, but I don't know for sure.

If you're new to the area they could be a tremendous asset to you, not only in maybe knowing the buzz and being able to help you find a location, but by being involved in the association you'll be sure to know about City plans for the neighborhood (ie. Lead/Coal construction).

It would be great to have more retail to balance the restaurants.

I run a one-woman web development shop and art studio. Currently I rent a space across from the Fruit Basket next to Sophia's where Obama was on 4th street.
