Hi,
I've been in ABQ for a couple of months now - am loving it, but must travel later in March and am seeking suggestions for boarding my dog (17yr. old toy poodle: healthy, friendly etc, but...a bit high strung ;-)). In our previous location, he boarded with a woman who kept him in her home, really absorbing him into her family's life. This was of course a wonderful arrangement and I don't expect to reproduce it here, but I'd like a sense of what's possible. I live in Nob Hill area, have limited resources and would appreciate any ideas re: affordable nearby boarding options that might be good for an older dog who has not boarded in the conventional sense for many years.
Thanks!

I recommend Enchantment Pet Resort & Spa in Rio Rancho. This is where I leave my dogs when I need to. They are a full service facility proving a host of services from training to day camp to swim camp to lodging. The have experience with senior dogs. They are expensive, but the peace of mind is worth the extra cash. The costs are $37-$41 a day. Vaccinations have to be up to date including for kennel cough. The staff is well trained and caring. Some services, like day camp require the dog be screened beforehand regarding temperament. It is not a requirement for lodging.
Good luck, I know how it is leaving my dogs behind.
I have the name of a couple that will do care in your home. They can stay there or just visit at whatever interval you desire. Very nice and reliable people. Resonably priced, in my opinion. We have used them twice (we have many animals - 11 year old dog, a cat, rabbit, fish) and been very happy with the arrangement.
I sent you a friend request. If you want me to forward their contact info, just accept it and I will do so. Don't want to post their info in this forum.
Good luck!
