I am looking for a beginner photography class here in ABQ and need some help. I’m really a novice and would like to go someplace where if I get into it I can grow. Who can help me find a class where I can find my inner shutter-bug?

UNM has an excellent photo department and lab. Why not sign up for a class in the fall semester? Nothing like rolling tmax onto spools in the dark.
It might help you get some suggestions if you provided more info about what you're interested in learning. For example:

Are you planning to shoot film or digital? If digital, are you looking to learn how to shoot or how to use Photoshop or both?

Do you have a camera already? If not are you looking at a point and shoot, a rangefinder or a SLR?

What type of photography are you interested in doing? Landscape? Wildlife? Street photography?
all great questions. I'm thinking digital (easy & afforable) vs. film but I am not tied to that decision. As for what do i want to shoot, i'm thinking outdoors (all of it). I do have a camera and I also have access to a very nice 35mm digital so equipment is not an issue. Like I said this is just to see how much i love it and then go from there. thanks matt
If you have a digital 35mm back, that's awesome. I still say UNM is a good idea, but you might also try your local library. There are many books out there by renown photographers which can provide a rigorous technical and compositional understanding.
