I remember reading that the owners of Shade Tree Custom Cycle Works are planning to open a new restaurant in the old Optical Shop store front in Nob Hill by Feb. 1. Any word on how that's going?

The customers will be!

Just so it isn't part of a chain!

I am a diabetic, so I always get my exams and prescriptions for glasses from an opthalmologist, not an optometrist or an oculist.  But I always get the prescriptions filled and buy the frames at Sears.  They have frames as low as $69 a pair, and some decent looking ones for $99.  I like to get two pairs of glasses because I need a pair of distance glasses for driving and a pair of medium range ones for computer work, and bifocals irritate my eyes.  Last time I bought glasses, the frames for my old medium range ones were just fine, but the distance glass frames were a wreck.  I got the lenses from Sears, but they were able to use the old frames of the medium range glasses for the new ones, and then I bought a new pair for the distance glasses for $139, because I couldn't find one I liked for less.  These are people who will work with you and do special requests like this to save you money.  Yes, you have to wait a couple weeks for the lenses to come in, but it is worth it to me.
