Anyone know where to find mistletoe? I bought some last year from some kids at 12th and Mountian Road but I haven't seen them this year/

Permalink Reply by Edith Grove on December 16, 2011 at 9:19am I know we picked some up at Sunflower Market a couple years ago, but I haven't looked to see if it's being stocked this year.
I just saw a van at 12th and Candelaria selling mistletoe if you're still looking for some

Permalink Reply by Leanne Yanabu on December 22, 2011 at 8:57pm Good luck finding it. There was an article in the New York Times just yesterday about the shortage of mistletoe because of droughts in Texas. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/12/22/garden/a-mistletoe-shortage-threa...
There's mistletoe and there's mistletoe. As I understand it, the locally-occurring variety - which can also frequently be encountered in junipers in the foothills and throughout New Mexico - is a different plant than the "classic" broadleaf mistletoe plant, which is what that story discusses. The local stuff is quite common if you're looking in the right environments...
Thanks all! Have a Merry Christmas.
