Where was Mayor Berry during the Albuquerque Pride Parade?

After watching the fabulous Albuquerque Pride Parade yesterday, I wondered where was Mayor Berry???  I was very disappointed to find that he did not participate.  Was he invited to march or did he decline and if so why.  Anyone know?

Last week, my wife and I were in Salt Lake City, and we had the opportunity to attend the Pride Parade there.  It was great and they had a big turnout. We were surprised to see both the Mayor of Salt Lake City and the County Mayor march in the parade.  We were impressed, especially as the state is quite conservative, although SLC is the bastion of liberalism there.  It made me think about Mayor Berry's lack of attendance in our parade.  It was good to see Ray Garduno of the City Council and Kathy Stebbens from the county in attendance.

Kudos to Scalo's restaurant for hosting the Pancake Breakfast as a fund raiser for NMAS.  We had a great time with some great pancakes. By the way, these are the best parades ever!  So . . . if you havent been to one make sure you attend next year.  And that means you too, Mr. Mayor.

OK. . . .I called and all the Mayor did was write a proclamation for the Pride weekend event.  The spokesperson wasn't even sure if he was inviited or not.  Whether invited or not, I believe he should have been there.  I think he conveniently avoided the event to protect his conservative base.  AND THAT'S MY OPINION.
Good for him.
I'm glad, like you, Ramon, that he wrote the proclamation. I wish that he had been at the parade, though.
I would have gone to you party, Benny, but I'm lactose intolerant.
Whoa!  Benny's post is now gone.  That was epic.

Someone told me that it wasn't very nice, so I pulled it.  I was in a snarky mood when I wrote it.

I still feel this thread - like pretty much anything K writes - is pointless and reeks of trollfunk, but there's that old internet rule...

There is a delicate line between snark and mean- i found your post amusing, but I am sometimes not either.

I think it ofter better to answer those trolly post with with, as logic does seem to get anywhere.

Here's a pic that was taken of the opening ceremnonies, and it sure looks like Mayor Berry giving some kind of speech.I left before he got there by about 5 inutes and when I left they were still expecting him and herding people towards the entrance where they were cutting the ribbon.

I did not take this picture but a 3 minute search on the internet led me to it.

I hope the gentleman who did take it forgives me for the sake of satisfying your curiosity.

Was there Ice Cream at the Opening Ceremony of the new center?

There were all kinds of free treats.

Free Hot Dogs, free sodas, some kind of strawberry slushie thingee, and free music!

I cannot quote the In Focus piece on KNME right after Berry was elected. But during the interview he was asked directly if he would be in the Pride Parade. He said at that time, during that In Focus interview that he would not attend. Wish I had more specifics about this, but I do know for sure the question was asked and answered well before the Pride Parade.
