Duke City Fix

Life, food, events, and community in Albuquerque, NM

At the new Northwest Transit Center, I looked at the signs for the bus stops, and have noticed that they have a NEW LOOK! Gone are those turquoise SunTran signs, and replaced by new red, white, and gold signs.

I spoke to the person giving out free food and and ABQ RIDE souvenirs, and he told me that the new signs will soon appear at all bus stops. The route number signs though are still turquoise, with commuter routes in red.

I think this was long overdue. After all, the SunTran logo represents the dark days of transit in Albuquerque. Many of these signs have also faded.

Oh thank god! I have so longed for new stop signs. Yes, gone are the days of SunTran, gone I say!

If I recall, ABQRide has quite a bit of money in the budget 2008-09 for bus sign replacement (I think about $800k).
