6901 and 6902 were on route 766 today. I rode 6902 and got some photos.

The 6900 series buses have LED lighting unlike the 6400 and 6600 series buses. These lights do a better job of lighting the interior of the bus.

The seats are made of metal with different style seat fabric on them. These seats are softer and more comfortable in my opinion.

The 6900 series buses are also much quieter inside, unlike the other Rapid Ride buses. You can sit in the very back and have a conversation with someone without having to talk over the engine.

Very nice interior. I can't wait to ride on one of these. I saw two of them on the 790 today, however, the bus I rode today was a 6400-series.

I am guessing the reason why they are quieter is because they have Cummins ISL engines instead of Caterpillar C9.

Hopefully you will get to ride one on the way back. I suggest doing what I did, wait at the bus stop until one pulls up, don't get on any other bus. That only works if you don't have to be anywhere at any specific time though.

Probably better insulation around the engine too. I've noticed the 700's are pretty noisy and they have the same engine.

Well, this morning, there were two 6900-series buses, two 6400-series buses, and one 6600-series bus. I know that during that time one of them is an extra, however, I don't know which one it was. I was on bus #6403 this morning.

And actually, even though the 6900-series buses have a Cummins ISL engine, they are the 330hp model rather than the 280hp model on the 700s/900s.

BTW, I found out the model of seat. They are the American Seating Innovator.

Those look nice! The front looks so nice and sleek. I gotta say, I like the design on the seats. Makes me think of Tomorrowland or something...

I have had the same experience. When I used to play video games I tried playing some of my portable WIFI games on Rapid Ride but it never worked so I gave up. Now when people ask about it I just tell them it doesn't work and leave it at that. I agree that it is annoying when ABQ RIDE continues to say an almost non-existent feature is working on the buses when it never has.

I rode one of the new ones for the first time last night, also the 6902, on the Red Line. My impressions were basically the same as dude's. I liked the LED lighting, especially where it was a different color (sort-of purple-ish in a couple of spots). The combination of the color of the seat fabrics with the metal frames is really nice. My back appreciated the seats; the ones on the other buses are good, I think these are even better. The bus is nice and quiet. Two downsides...I thought it rode a little rougher than the others, and acceleration seemed slower. The a/c was about the same as the first batch of rapid rides...ok, but not as good as the second batches.

I've ridden one of these three times this week. I agree the new engine is quieter, and that is a huge improvement. But I find the seats less comfortable myself.
