I googled it, but could not find another park like Hidden Park on the internet. This is a very special, unique, and public park. I feel some members of the neighborhood association don't realize this when they talk about making it into a park for everyone's wishes park. Put a playground in, a paved path in, exercise equipment... They say they want more people to use the park. For one thing to deter crime. So they call out the dog patrol to give out tickets to people with dogs off-leash. Their reasoning is so more people will use the park. What it does is get rid of most of the people who were using the park in the first place since (as a park developer said at a meeting), it is an ideal place for dogs off-leash. Since this has been going on, off and on for around 10 years now, some people who used to love this park have given up on it all together. The tickets and the time in court are too expensive.

The residents who live on Hidden Park have to deal with the after dark issues. Playground equipment and paved paths... will certainly attract more people then.

In the neighborhood;

Need to play chess?  Go to Twin Park.

Need play equipment? Go to Summit Park, Altura Park. Zia Park, Morningside Park. Need a paved path? Go to Bataan Park, Summit Park, Morningside Park.

Need to walk your dog on leash? Go ANYWHERE.

Need to jog? Go anywhere.

Need to tire out your dog?  FORGET IT!  Go somewhere else.

I love Hidden Park. I've lived across from it for over 30 years. I've done drawings, watercolors, photos of it. I've met many good people there.  But I have a young dog who needs to play. If there's not a designated area (say a third of the park) or some hours to do that then I'll go elsewhere like some of my neighbors and friends have already done.

Next meeting is July 10th.
