The Martin Heinrich for Congress Campaign has figured out how to win this election. I spend my evenings and weekends volunteering as a Deputy Field Organizer in the Nob Hill Office at 115 Montclaire SE. We have a plan for getting out the vote, but we need more volunteers. There are also openings in our office for canvass captains, deputy volunteer coordinator, and various other positions. Contact our Field Organizer Alex Eubanks (at 805.305.5834 or alex@nmdemocrats.org) to apply for these positions and to get on the schedule for volunteer shifts.

According to the Bernalillo County Clerk, Republicans have so far turned in more absentee ballots than Democrats. We really need your help to contact more voters and to get them to the polls!

Early voting started today! see the county clerk website for locations, M-S 8 to 6 till the Oct 31. Skip the lines on election and help out progressives who are running instead :)

Intrigued by political intrigue?

New Mexico politics can be a confusing and entertaining spectacle and one man with his eye on the target and finger on the pulse of this beast is Joe Monahan, author of the prominent blog, "New Mexico Politics with Joe Monahan."

Join others intrigued with our fast moving political stage at O'Niell's Pub this Thursday eve at 7 PM and enjoy a pint while you hear the latest. Invite friends and debate partners!

This event is sponsored by the Green Party of Bernalillo County as the first in a series of informal gatherings looking at issues we value . . . beginning with Grassroots Democracy.

Just wanted to let everyone here know that the decidedly progressive Green Party of New Mexico is holding our annual state convention here in ABQ on March 20, 2010 from 2 - 4 pm, immediately following the annual march against the Iraq War also to be held that day @ Civic Plaza.
We'll be meeting at O'Neill's meeting room and there will be some food and refreshment.

If you were excited about change yet disappointed in what the 2-party system has delivered, once again, please consider what alternative political parties might have to offer.

If you want more info, please contact bcgp@mac.com . . . we have a newsletter you can follow & see what we're about. You can also view the national website at gp.org and greenpartynm.org (soon to be updated).

I'm curious as to the progressive reaction to the election of a Republican as mayor of ABQ. I've been unable to really get a good idea of his views and intentions as to some of our issues here. Will Marty's Q program be dismantled? Will sustainability programs be given the kabash? What about sprawl- which Marty wasn't great on but now what?
Civil rights?

and now that we've seen this outcome in the election, what about amending our charter (as I believe is the mechanism) to conduct our elections using Ranked Choice Voting so as to eliminate the need for progressives to either split votes or hold their nose and vote for someone they dislike out of fear (this applies for any party too).
