We acquired Ancona ducklings from Boondocker's Farm last spring and are absolutely in love with these entertaining cuties. We are selling eggs for $3 per egg. They are a critically endangered heritage breed that are medium weight, great foragers, flightless, calm, and very good egg layers. Even in winter our ladies were very productive. It was nice to have a consistent supply of eggs even if our chickens were off season.
We have 4 ladies - Maple, Quackers, Pippa, and Chicken (yes, she's a duck named 'Chicken') and 7 Drakes. Everyone is getting along nicely so far. Our ducks are good foragers and the ladies are the ones in charge of leading the pack.
If you have never raised ducks before, the ducklings are much messier than chicks and the ducks need to be supplemented with niacin (not flush-free niacin). Duck feet are more sensitive also, so the softer their roaming area, the better.
They are full of personality, friendly, and love rain & snow. Feel free to reach me at (505) 715-8744.
