We have a "rescue" Old English Bantam hen we've had since last summer.  This morning she began crowing (I'm serious!) so we need to find her a new home.   I think she's about two years old and lays one small white egg a day--infrequently during the winter but she should start laying regularly soon as the days get longer.

She was very scared of people when she was given to us--not as much anymore but still won't let us pick her up.  She also looked like she had been picked on by other chickens or a rooster but her feathers have grown back in and she is sleek and pretty.

Please respond if you are interested in giving poor Psycho Charlie a home!

She's not pyscho. It is not unusual, though not common, for the dominant hen to start crowing in a flock with no rooster. I think it sounds pretty funny when a hen stretches her pipes.

Unfortunately, her name was Psycho Charlie BEFORE she started crowing so maybe she was destined to be strange?  In any case, we can't keep her if she keeps this up--we like our neighbors too much.
