Ordering chicks from Murray McMurray Hatchery

Hey there urban chickens,

I'm going to be placing an order in a few days from Murray McMurray Hatchery for baby chicks if anyone wants to join in. Cost per chick is anywhere from $2 to $4 depending on the breed (and how many we order) plus shipping costs.

I'll be ordering some white rocks and perhaps some meat birds/cornish roasters. I'm interested in the marans (super dark eggs) but they are almost $4 for straight run and I don't need any more roosters!

Permalink Reply by jenprosser on April 21, 2009 at 2:06pm: Yowza, I just checked the availability of chicks from McMurrays. there are hardly any birds available, mostly males. I'm going to look around at other hatcheries or see when Marans & white rocks will be available.

I'll post again when I have an idea of when chicks will be available.
