Duke City Fix

Life, food, events, and community in Albuquerque, NM

It's been over a year since I joined a yoga class (!), but last night I finally went back starting with a class by Supriti at High Desert Yoga.

So stretchy and lovely, I feel great. And Supriti is hilarious. Have you ever taken one of her classes? Quite low on the woo-woo factor, Supriti's classes are reminiscent of the way my mom runs things: with a certain blunt and human charisma that makes you feel OK if you accidentally fart in class. That's not to demean things but rather to say that it's a great place for beginners (like me) to feel comfortable.

After a year-long hiatus, I'm back.

Someone just emailed me to say:

Enjoyed your description of Supriti, who was my first yoga instructor in Abq, Sundays at Del Norte. She still fills in at Sports & Wellness sometimes, and she has gotten rather cranky in her middle age, delightfully so. Sometimes it feels like taking a yoga class from Hillary Clinton. (Don't know what that says about me or your mother.)

No, i haven't had a chance to work with her yet. I really enjoy all of the instructors I have worked with at HDY so far though. I especially like Andrew for much the same reason you indicated. He brings it back to a more ... let us say "down to earth" experience.
